I use Twitter in my business to connect, engage and generate business, and I help others to do the same, so thought I’d share my 10 commandments for Twitter.
Those who have been trained by me on Twitter will be yawning at this (you’ve heard it all before). Hope there’s some use to those of you who are Twitter baby chicks…
These are my own opinion… feel free to share yours via a comment below:
- Don’t “drift” – out of date bio – forgetting to tweet for days on end – keep it fresh, and you’ll keep your contacts.
- If you are a recruiter, don’t talk about vacancies all the time, you have more to offer than that, and most of your contacts are not job seekers (at the moment).
- Don’t be negative. Some may disagree, but negativity can be taken out of context and put you in bad light when you meant no ill. br>
- Don’t use all 140 characters (leave space for retweets) – you want people to forward your content around, don’t you? br>
- Tweet don’t bleet or bark – Twitter is for conversations, and yes, marketing, but using it as simply a broadcast tool will get you limited results. br>
- Don’t link to LinkedIn so all of your Tweets go North onto LinkedIn… if I am logged into LinkedIn, I don’t care what you had for breakfast. br>
- Don’t Forget to say thanks when someone mentions you or retweets something of yours. br>
- Do retweet others’ tweets. br>
- Do put how to get in touch in your bio if you care about me getting in touch. br>
- For goodness sake, have some fun with it… br>
